The Top Ten Things For An Estimating System

Friday 9 February 2007 @ 6:19 am

10 Interface with Microsoft Word have a report writer
The estimate you present to your customer is a reflection of your professionalism. Typically, it’s left behind for them to review and compare to other contractor’s estimates. If it’s chicken scratching on the back of an envelope or just some numbers printed out it’s not going to compare favorably with the estimates prepared by other contractors.

If the “finishing touches” on your estimate are done through Word, or a report writer, you can customize the estimate to make it look absolutely fabulous. You can add your contract terms, pictures (a picture is worth a thousand words) of what you’re going to do, before and after Continue Reading »

The Process Power Affiliates Use To Select Profitable Online Affiliate Programs

Friday 9 February 2007 @ 6:18 am

There are literally thousands of online affiliate programs to choose from and choosing the most profitable ones can sometimes be confusing…

…you will probably feel like a little kid in a toy store when it comes to picking the right programs.

It is very easy to become overwhelmed when it comes to picking the right partners to promote. That’s why I am going to give you some critical tips that you can take to make sure you are picking the right programs.

As I stated earlier, the advantage of being an affiliate is that you don’t have to worry about all the strenuous tactics of product development. You simply just refer customers to the merchants and get paid for your efforts. The concept sounds simple, but it involves a great deal of time and effort.

Here are the critical factors that you should take into consideration when it comes to selecting the right affiliate sales programs to promote. Read over these more than once if you want to increase your affiliate sales.

1. Make sure that you choose your market first before you choose the products to promote.

All of the merchants who develop the products look for a thirsty crowd before even considering making a product. It is very easy for them to develop a product that they want instead of gearing it towards the needs of others. Therefore, you need to evaluate the target market of the visitors that come to your website and see if they would be interested in a product or service that you want to promote.

Don’t promote products just because they pay out high commissions because you will still fail to generate a lot of sales if you don’t target the right market.

If you own a website that deals with cats then it would be hard to sell them a product that deals with dogs, even if it is the greatest cat product on the market. Always know

the target market that you are pre-selling your products to.

2. Once you know your target audience, research the web affiliate programs that fit this audience.

Lets revisit our golf website example. You know that you need to find online affiliate programs that cater around the game of golf to fit your visitors needs. This is common sense, but you want believe the amount of affiliates who fail to do this.

You also have the ability to promote closely related products to your visitors, products that will compliment your golfing enthusiast needs. For example, one of your visitors buys a pair of golfing gloves, so you know have the ability to recommend golf clothing for additional back-end sales.

Here are a couple affiliate program directories for you to find products to promote:

http://www.commissionjunction.com
http://www.clickbank.com
http://www.linkshare.com
http://www.paydotcom.com

3. Look for products that already are selling well and have a high market demand.

This secret is worth million’s alone. If you want to make a lot of money promoting affiliate products, then sell the ones that are easy to sell. No use of trying to sell computers to Microsoft, it just won’t work. If no one wants the products that you are promoting then you are just spending your valuable time and money trying to promote them.

You my need to test the online affiliate program before you can tell if it is going to be profitable for you or not. If you don’t see any returns after the testing and tweaking that you have done, you might want to move on to the next.

4. Choose the top affiliate programs that have a solid history of paying out their affiliate commissions on time and have top quality promotion materials and products.

This may seem like another no-brainer, but you must make sure that the company has a good track record for treating their customers with respect because it will fall back on you if you are promoting trashy products to your customers.

Some of the top affiliate marketers suggest that you only promote products that you have personally used yourself, but though ideal, this will not always be the case. Just make sure that you do a little research on the products before you promote them to your subscribers.

Make sure that the products that you promote are priced at a reasonable price for that market. So be sure that the company has a good commission structure and whose products sell well and offer at least a 25% commission on the product.
Also make sure that the program that you are promoting has a good sales page for their products so they will have a good sales conversion based on the amount of traffic that you send to their site.

One more important pointer that I would consider is to read the fine print on the affiliate agreement page before you become an affiliate…

Warning: There are some companies that will terminate the partnership if you don’t send enough traffic to their site in a certain amount of time. If you are unaware of this, you will be at a lost for a lot of income that you should have been making.

5. Stop doing the things that haven’t been producing and get rid of them in the process.

If you get a bunch of traffic to your website, you want to make sure that you are using all of this traffic effectively.

Even though affiliate marketing is a low maintenance business, you still need to tweak your promotions once they are in place. You always need to stay up to date with all of the current trends in this market.

If you keep an inventory of the amount of money that each program brings you, then you can always get rid of those that are not producing and replace them with new ones in your portfolio.

The key here is maximum profit for minimum exposure.

Remember, the advertising that you do is paid by you and not the merchants, so you decide on the methods that you want to use. So always make sure that you are earning more than you spend on advertising.

6. Make sure you understand how you are paid for your efforts.

This is an overlooked area because most marketers don’t want to be involved with all of the technical stuff that goes along with tracking all of your affiliate links. It is important to know how your links are tracked.

Does the company you promote use cookies? What if the company has cookies turned off their browsers, is there a back up method to track the sales? What happens if a prospects visits another affiliate’s site before coming to yours, will you get credited for the sale or will they?

Why are the answers to these questions important at all?

You want to understand these little technicalities because if not, you will lose out on a lot of your affiliate commissions. The point that I am making here is that you need to be sure that your affiliate links are working properly and also be able to see how many people have clicked on your link.

Dramatically Increase The Credibility Of Your Affiliate Website With Customer Reviews

Friday 9 February 2007 @ 6:18 am

Affiliate marketing was a six billion dollar business in 2006, and shows no sign of tapering off any time soon. But as good as business has been for the top affiliate marketers, it could be a lot better for the majority. A real obstacle to achieving the sales goals of many affiliates involves their credibility. If I say a product is great, and I am being paid to convince you to buy it, why should you believe me?

The fact is, most affiliate sites on the web today are poorly constructed, and this beggars any authority the owner of the site hopes to convert into sales. Often these sites are thin conduits designed to ferry traffic from search engines to the sites of merchants who have neither the resources nor the time to figure out how to find the customers they need to ensure their business success. Despite this, and because the web is growing more and more congested, the value of a *quality* affiliate marketer nonetheless continues to increase. Unfortunately this simple fact is not at all recognized by the buying public who often begrudge affiliate marketers and view them as interlopers who put themselves between the customer and the merchants they are searching for. In short, the affiliate marketer has long suffered, and continues to suffer, from an image problem.

This image problem is not confined just to the public. Google, which derives huge advertising revenues from affiliate marketers, nevertheless regards affiliate marketing sites with complete disdain. Of course, affiliate marketers themselves have contributed to this problem because their websites very often contain little in the way of new or unique content, which is what Google values and believes its customers (web searchers) value. It is no surprise therefore, to find that some of the top affiliate marketers differentiate themselves from the rest of the pack in precisely this area. They offer not only critical assessment of the products they promote, but also take the time to blog and build a comraderie with the visitors to their sites. By offering unique, and regularly updated content, they appease the Gods of Google, and are rewarded with organic (non pay-per-click) traffic that very much contributes to the bottom line. In other words, the top affiliate marketers know how to project a good image–to their visitors, to Google, and to other search engines that might bring in prospects.

Blogging is a great way to produce unique content. But it is time consuming, there is a limit to how much daily content you can produce as an affiliate, and not everyone finds the task of writing content easy work. What if instead you could have the content create itself automatically? Well, actually you can. If you offer customer reviews of the products you promote you accomplish this and more. Not only is the subject matter on target, but the reviews themselves promote the products for you (supposing you have carefully chosen only the best products to promote, which is what any *good* affiliate marketer knows to do). Even better, you no longer have to worry about that credibility problem. If ten people come onto your site and say “Buy product XYZ, it rocks!” that recommendation is a heck of a lot more convincing than anything that you might say, no matter how truthful your utterances.

So, all you have to do as an affiliate marketer, to get people to “click through” to a merchant site in a buying mood is to promote good products and let people express their opinions about those products on your site. If the products are great, the reviews will reflect that. If instead it turns out that the reviews are consistently bad for one of the products you promote, then drop it! Replace it with another.

“But collecting reviews is really difficult!” I hear you object. “I simply do not have time for that. Do I?”

There is nothing inherently difficult about putting customer reviews on your site today. It does take a little time to set things up, but low-cost commercial quality reviewing applications are available to do the bulk of the work (see the one mentioned in the resource box below if you want to get a jump start on implementing customer reviews on your website). Not only does a customer review section on your site substantially increase your overall credibility, but search engines will love the content–especially if the review pages have been optimized for the search engines (as all good reviewing engines will certainly do).

There is another benefit to collecting customer reviews. Some review engines allow you to publish the reviews as RSS feeds. What this means is increased traffic. You can submit your feeds to the RSS directories. Moreover, if the reviewing application also allows you to create RSS feeds compatible with Google Base (as does the application mentioned below) you can upload your entire review database (or the first N characters of each review) to Google Base and make your reviews accessible to the various Google marketing avenues.

Given the clear benefits to implementing customer reviews on affiliate marketing sites it is surprising that so very few marketers have actually adopted this strategy to date. But as the web continues to mature, and affiliate marketing grows more professional, it is to be expected that this strategy will become more and more common on the sites of top affiliate marketers.

How to generate a passive income online?

Friday 9 February 2007 @ 6:18 am

Passive income is not something that was invented with the advent of internet. But, what the advent of internet has done is to increase the opportunities to make it. Each day more and more people are switching over to generating passive income online. These people are not just idle homemakers looking to make some extra buck in their free time, but, are dedicated professionals like doctors and lawyers who are looking for ways to supplement their income. So, how can you generate passive income online? There are many ways to do it and it is beyond the scope of this article to explain them all. Let us just look at the three most lucrative fields – self-publishing, affiliate marketing, websites.

Even with all this talk of information overload, people are still hungry for information. Information is needed on a lot of topics. It can be related to your professional life, personal life or even your hobby. You can self-publish to give out thins information. It can be in the form of e-books, booklets, manuals, videos, audio cassettes, CDs. Specifically for the internet you can publish e-books, articles and e-manuals. How –To books and articles are very popular on the internet and these sell like hot cupcakes. You have to publish, market and sell these products to make money. So, whatever money that you make is yours to keep. You also have complete ownership and control of these books. The best part is that it doesn’t require any financial investment from your part. The only investment that is required is the investment of you effort and creativity.

Most of us have heard about affiliate marketing even before we heard of internet. Products like Avon, Tupperware, and Amway etc were marketed this way. The internet has only increased the potential of affiliate marketing. It is like owning a mall where you earn money from the profits of the mall as well as from the profits earned by each individual store in your mall. Affiliate marketing on the internet is so popular because you have such a huge market to market your products. The whole world is truly your market. Affiliate marketing doesn’t require any investment. The number of people working under you will decide the revenue you get out of it. The more the number of people, more will be your income. The only thing you need to invest is time and effort. Once you have established a network you can sit back and relax from the income that you make.

Coming to the third option, i.e. generating income from websites. Websites are also called online real estates. The website that you own is your property and you make money using your website. There are many ways to make money from a website but the most important thing to remember is that you should have a lot of visitors to your website to make money from it. Now, how do you ensure that you get a lot of visitors to your site? To make it happen, you have to increase your search engine ranking. There are many ways to do this as well. So, what do you put on your website. Well, it can be anything. It can be a website of your articles. It could be website devoted to your hobby like gardening. If the content of your website is really good people will come back to your site. You can then generate revenue through advertisements placed on your site. They can be banners or any other mode. It can be through pay per click schemes and so on. You need not be a website developer to develop one. But, remember to consult one before you go about. If you feel you cannot afford it then there are plenty of resources available online for people like you to go through.

Whichever type of business you do, keep in mind that you will require lot of patience before you make this into a regular source of income. This is not a lottery ticket. You cannot just start making millions just at the snap of your fingers. This will take time and patience before, you get anywhere near the income that you are dreaming of.

Wanna Know Everything About Domain Names?

Friday 9 February 2007 @ 6:18 am

We know how to choose a good name - and there is no reason you shouldn’t know it too.

When choosing a name you should keep in mind that domain names are meant to help users find you more easily. If you want a good domain name follow these simple rules:

1. Shorter is better

Make your domain name as short as possible as long it remains recognizable. For example usedcars.com is far better than weofferusedcarsatlowprices.com. It is easier to remember and it also minimizes the risk of typing it wrong.

2. Make it simple and memorable

Avoid using abbreviations, hyphens or anything that could put your visitors in doubt how to spell or say it. Domain name should be easy to remember. This is especially important when people try to find you the second time.
The easiest way to follow this rule is to read your name over the phone to your friend and see if he got it right. If you have to explain anything than you have a problem. Change it, you will thank me later. :)

3. Your domain name should be your website name

Really. The name of your domain should reflect the content of your website. Why? Because when people think of your website lets say its name is Rare flowers they will try finding you by that name. In this case rareflowers.com would be a good choice for your domain name.
If you follow this rule you also gain some advantage with the search engines.

4. What about extensions?

My advice is use a .com. If you are serious about your site you should avoid various new domain extensions. It takes a bit more time to register .com since it is the most popular extension but you wont regret it.
Following these simple rules will put you way ahead of those who will register just the first name they can think of.

I’m Going To Use OsCommerce – Now What?

Thursday 8 February 2007 @ 11:16 pm

When you decide to go with osCommerce for your e-commerce site, you can simply take their stock layout and insert your information and voila! you have a completely functional e-commerce site ready for customers and sales.

If you’re like most e-commerce sites, however, you’ll want to go a step further than that and customize your “storefront” to make it better fit your product. If you are savvy in both the technical and marketing fields, this will probably be a no-brainer. If, however, you are an expert in your product, but not necessarily how to sell your product, this article is for you. It’s filled with tips to help you both design your site and well as market your product.

Design Your Site

1.Change your colors. You can go into your stylesheet.css file (in your catalog root folder) and simply change the colors from the stock layout. It’s amazing what a difference something as simple as a custom color layout can do for your website!

2.Choose a template. If you don’t want to start your website design from scratch, you can use a template that has everything you need for your site except the information.

3.Or, go even simpler. If you don’t want to change the complete template you can opt to change just one thing on the site. This could be the background, buttons or logo. Whatever you choose, just do something to make the site your own!

4. Improve your images. Spend some time learning image editing programs so that you can save your pictures in high quality with the smallest file size so that they both look great and load quickly. With the high speed of the Internet, most people don’t have the patience to wait for slow loading pictures and they may leave your site rather than waiting for the image to load completely.

5.Change the page titles. Make sure that you give each page a descriptive title so that when the page appears in the search engines it gives people enough information to get them to want to click on your link.

6.Put your self in your customer’s shoes. Customers do not like long drawn out checkouts. If you can get the information you need in two to three pages (including the confirmation of information page), your site will have an advantage over those sites that draw it out. The osCommerce forum has information on how to do this.

Market Your Product:

1.Make your site unique. This is a basic marketing technique and is sometimes referred to as creating a Unique Selling Proposition. Basically, this is a simple statement that tells people what makes your site and your business unique from other businesses, especially those in the same niche. Whether you always offer free shipping or guarantee the lowest prices, your unique selling proposition is what sets you apart from the rest.

2.Don’t forget to sell your product! Getting people to your site and getting them to stay on the site are important, but once they are there you need to SELL the product. You won’t be there to tell them about the items and they aren’t in a bricks and mortar store to examine the product themselves, so your descriptions need to do these jobs for you and the customer. Be detailed, be specific and be honest. Include who would likely enjoy the product and why they would need it. Instead of focusing on the details of the product or service, put some emphasis n the benefits.

3.Make your store more than an online entity. Give your customers a way to contact you. This includes a name, address, email and phone number. If they have no way to get into contact with you, your credibility with the customer declines.

4.Offer more than just the product or service. Don’t be afraid to add articles, tips and information related to your product for customers coming to your site. It will increase your credibility as well as give them reasons to return to your site even if they don’t have an immediate need for your product or service. Related to this is sending out a periodic newsletter that gives useful information, announces specials and sales and highlights specific products.

With just a few customizations your osCommerce store can be a unique site that fits your philosophy, product and needs.

Making the Most of your Online Promotion

Thursday 8 February 2007 @ 11:16 pm

It may sound obvious, but if you are looking to make money online, or to make even more money via the net, it is important to make sure you are getting the highest possible amount from every sale you send. The payment variations between the programs you choose can mean the difference between a successful online marketing career, and a frustrating waste of time and effort.

The differences in affiliate programs’ payouts can be immense. Some pay a tiny percentage and will not credit you with further sales, from while others pay commissions in the hundreds of dollars for a single sale, and credit you with any further purchases from the customers you send to them. Generating quality traffic is not easy, so why push those hard earned visitors towards sponsors that will only pay you a few dollars per sale?

Contrary to the old business cliché, in internet marketing, “what you know” is very important indeed. Finding those amazing opportunities is not easy. It’s a competitive market, and when marketers strike a golden niche, they are going to keep quiet about it. So how do you find the high paying niche products? Yes you can check around industry forums, hoping for a generous soul to give up the goods, but it’s not very likely to happen. The good news is there are affiliate membership sites designed to inform you on the latest, most profitable opportunities. Successful affiliate marketing is dependant on 3 factors:

1. The market potential - The size of the market, the competition and the quality of the offering
2. The profit potential - What is the cost per sale? What is your commission?
3. The support you receive to promote the product.

There is a site that addresses these factors head on. www.MakingYouRicher.com (MYR) has been produced by a team of e-commerce professionals to guide affiliate marketers towards some of the most profitable products to promote on the net. MYR Membership comes with a guide to creating sites that sell, and how to profit from just about any niche. Its members’ area is updated with highly profitable offerings as they find them, and they supply all the tools required to get started. The products they find can pay as much as $175 for a single sale, and with free website templates and professionally written content, you do not need to be an expert in the niche to get started. MYR’s reputation is impressive, with some of their members making up to US $80k per month in commission. If you are interested in learning more about affiliate marketing, or are experienced, but looking for something extra, visit their site today - www.makingyouricher.com

Getting paid to take surveys… Huge Myth or Huge Money?

Thursday 8 February 2007 @ 11:16 pm

I was recently approached by a woman who told me that she gets paid over $1,200 per month to take surveys online. At first I found this hard to believe and was immediately skeptical. How could anyone get paid that much money just to answer a few questions about your opinion on a product or service? If that were the case then anyone could take a survey whenever they wanted and get paid instantly. There would be no boss, no irritating co-workers, no time commitments, and the work would be easy enough for my grandmother to do.

So I decided that I would research paid surveys and uncover the truth about how much money one could make taking them. Here is what I found:

There are reputable companies that focus totally on gathering information on thousands of products for hundreds of industries. Products like; appliances, footwear, toys, music, etc. They collect this information and deliver it to major companies throughout the world. Helping them sell products and services more efficiently to their customers.

One of the methods these companies use to collect information is a paid survey. On average, they will pay $5 to $25 to take a survey. So, getting paid to take a survey is without a doubt available for anyone 18+. But can a person really earn $1,200 per month taking surveys?

Well, after further investigation, I uncovered what I believed to be a flaw in this amazing story. The average company will give a maximum of only two surveys per week. This means it would be impossible to make $1,200 a month taking just two surveys a week. However, if a person were to take surveys for multiple companies, they could get enough surveys to make that $1,200 per month. As a matter of fact, I found many people are making over $2,500 a month by joining focus groups which can pay up to $150 to participate.

To break it down for you… If you join multiple survey companies, take just 2 surveys per day, and participate in a few focus groups, you could very well make over $2,000+ a month easily from home.

The key to making that much money is finding enough companies that will supply you with surveys. There are free survey web sites all over the Internet. With a little work and research you could get started right now with absolutely no money out of your pocket. You must find reputable sites that pay you money. There are tons of sites that just give gifts, prizes and credits. Who wants that stuff?

The great news, is that I have found excellent programs that already have over 450+ companies in their database that will pay you in cold hard cash. They offer easy instructions to get started, additional work from home ideas, and information on how to get involved with focus groups. You can find my review of these paid survey programs at: www.LootSwoop.com/Survey

Paid surveys offer anyone with a little time, a computer, and an opinion the opportunity to make decent money from the comfort of there own home. Many are using paid surveys as a vehicle to bring in extra cash when they get a little free time.
